Cumnor battled valiantly against a strong Horspath side, and the final result does not do the team justice.
In the first game, Cumnor conceded 3 loose goals in the first half with Horspath taking all their chances. This didn't really reflect what had been a close match. After some tactical revisions at half time, Joseph donned the gloves, and Matthew moved out to bolster the defence. Cumnor had the better of the chances in the second half, but didn't manage to convert any. Max gave a good impression of David Beckham (and I don't mean coming on as a substitute for Theo Walcott) by hitting the woodwork from a dead ball as well as some searching crosses from the right wing. Louie won man of the match for tireless work, and excellent ball control, in the midfield.
In the second game, an enthralling match saw action at both ends. Guy was given the Horspath play maker to man mark, and was never a step away from him and stifled many goal attempts before they even started: a terrific performance. However with Cumnor looking for the win gaps were left at the back, and Charlie earned man of the match for some sterling work between the sticks, even managing to induce Horspath to miss a penalty. The moment of the day however was Cameron's mazey surge from midfield, beating two players, and setting up a goal for William.
Although the score wasn't what we wanted, the performance was again excellent and bodes well for the rest of the season.
