Abingdon Tournament Sunday 18th May 2008

On behalf of the coaches and management a BIG thank you to the children and their parents, we left the tournament feeling very PROUD, we ultimately came 3rd in our league out of two leagues a GOOD FUN DAY out.

TEAM Squad - Harry, Louie, Lucy, Guy, George D, Isaac, Hugo and Adam

1st Game - We narrowly lost 1-0 to Summertown Stars the first game of the tournament

2nd Game – We narrowly lost 1-0 to Abingdon Youth – The eventual winners of the tournament – By a fantastic goal scored from a free kick from the centre of the pitch that fizzed into the top corner.

3rd Game - 1-0 WINNERS over St Edmunds School

4th Game – 2-0 WINNERS over Oxford City after Harry accidentally indisposed 2 of their goalkeepers (We would have WON anyway)!

5th Game – 1-0 WINNERS over a good Didcot side – Who drew against Abingdon Youth and came 2nd in our league and who beat us by the thickness of a razor blade into the Semi Finals
After a sluggish start it turned into an GREAT day! Even INSPIRATIONAL, at the end we felt disappointed that we did not make it into the semi finals.


Special mentions go to everybody as each game we improved, Harry was EVERYWHERE 1ST INCREDIBLE energy!, Louie SKILFUL and SHARP, Lucy in GOAL and UP FRONT worked VERY hard, Guy FAST with TOP effort, George D positional PERFECTION always STRONG sat at the back, Isaac PHENOMENAL tackling, Hugo’s effort UNQUESTIONABLE and Adam was ADAM in goal and on pitch!

The positional play was VERY GOOD, the effort was 1ST CLASS and the team spirit was EXCELLENT. We played two of the four top teams from The Oxford League who had their first full strength sides out, we WON one and narrowly lost the other, this shows the STRENGTH and CHARACTER of our team after last week and puts us in a GOOD position for next season!

Thanks to Lewis and Charlie who gave their support and I’m sure ENJOYED our performances!
