Champions!
(Well actually....if Ducklington or Yarnton withdraw from the league and we lose our last two matches we could still theoretically....oh never mind)
With 2 games to play and 7 points clear of our nearest rivals, Cumnor Minors chose the wettest day of the season to secure the victory they needed to top the league. Playing a new system with which no-one was familiar (including the manager and coaches), the team kept to the task in hand and played attractive football against a sprightly Tower Hill Stars side. Even though it was raining heavily both teams played with festive cheer, in a good humoured and enjoyable match.
George M led the attack and bagged a couple. Cameron, playing in middle, got a couple, William also got two, and Harry one. As usual the defenders were the unsung heros and Tom kept the Tower Hill Stars forward at bay on his own for much of the match. William who joined Tom in defence for the second half, decided that he still wanted a goal but remembering his defensive duties had to put one in from about 10 yards outside the penalty area: a contender for goal of the season.
The second game, played in increasingly inclement weather, was a fierecely contended match. Although Cumnor had plenty of opportunities to score, nobody was able to take their chances, and only a stunning save from Adam in the second half kept the scoreline level.
Guy won man of the match for a wicked display of ball control and passing.
Well done everyone!
